In the first week, some of the Frogs were checking out lakes: Lake Raleigh and Lake Johnson. This week most of our Frogs are near bridges and are on along either House Creek or Crabtree Creek Greenways.
This week our direction is West to North as we explore Greenways around the City.
#1 This Frog, Fran, is afraid of heights so she is not going to be hoping across the bridge to the Art Museum. Instead (s)he is going to cruise down along the House Creek Trail. Definitely stopping someplace before getting to Horton St.
# 2 This Frog, Flora, loves House Creek Greenway and will bravely hop along for a while in order to get to the beautiful and restful Marshall Memorial Park. There is a monument where you read about the military history and contributions of Lt. Col. George Marshall, part of the “greatest generation”. There is also a pergola and a granite path to House Creek. We know frogs love water.
# 3 Not too far past Marshall Park the House Creek Greenway joins up with Crabtree Creek Greenway — Head West on Crabtree, under Edwards Mill Rd and over the bridge at Galax. Just down the path our Frog, Fritz has found a spot to rest.
# 4 There is lots to explore as you continue West on the Crabtree Creek greenway; it goes all the way to Umstead park. But before you get that far there is a really cool suspension bridge, the Todd Delk Memorial Bridge! This frog, Flora #2, is a bit hefty so he might not try hopping across the bridge. Look for him on the eastern side of the bridge.
